Two years ago, I thought to be a published author was just a pipedream. I had a book written, but navigating the publishing process just seemed overwhelming. Until I found Author Academy Elite.
As a 4th grader, I wrote a short story. Unknown to me, my teacher submitted my story into a writing contest, and I ended up winning. That is when I decided, I wanted to write a book someday.
Fast forward to 2014, it was time for me to work on my doctorate. Now, I had known several friends who had received their doctorate and written a dissertation or final project of some sort. When I would ask them if I could read their book, they would say it wasn’t interesting enough to read. This was a little disheartening as a future doctoral student. So, I decided I wanted to write something different.
As I neared the end of my doctoral project and came to the point of deciding what I would write, I determined I wanted to write a book that would be two things: interesting and helpful. I wanted it to be something people wanted to read and would provide them with tools and insight to make their lives easier.
So, embarking on my writing experience, I landed on writing a book that would help people better interact, manage, and lead Millennials. I wrote it from a personal perspective as well as a point of heavy research…so that it would be interesting and helpful.
After completing my degree, I had a written book, Millennial Leadership, but still needed to publish it.
If you have ever thought about publishing a book, you probably know what a daunting task this can be.
Do you go with a self-publishing process? It can be a ton of work wandering around in the dark.
Do you go with a publishing company? 99% of manuscripts are rejected, and for those who are that are accepted, they only receive 10% of the proceeds from their book sales.
So, what was the best option? I found myself wishing I had someone to guide me through the process, but still be able to maximize my earnings and maintain control of the book. Was there such an option out there?
That’s when I found Author Academy Elite!
Over the last couple of years, I have walked through the step-by-step process AAE provides and watched as my doctoral manuscript became a published book. They provided clear instructions that started with having an idea and the writing process (which I didn’t need with a final manuscript) and ends at publishing and launching. The many questions I had were answered by the AAE team, and the guesswork of getting my book published was gone. With their 52 missions, it was clear what my next step was all through the process.
This past weekend I was able to attend the Igniting Souls Conference, put on by the creators of Author Academy Elite, and had the privilege of meeting hundreds of authors. People from all walks, stages, and statuses in life all sharing the same desire: to write a book. It was encouraging and inspiring to see the challenges everyone had faced to bring their books to life, and the incredible lessons they learned along the way as well as the doors that were opened from publishing their books.
As a result of the process provided by AAE, many of them were on their second and even third books. I was inspired to start thinking about following them and writing a second book in the coming years.
I wanted to share this because I know there are many of you who have a dream of writing a book, but that dream sits on the shelf risking never becoming a reality. Whether it is nonfiction, fiction, mystery, kids, or any other sort of book, your voice needs to be heard and your story be told.
I want to encourage you to start thinking about writing and publishing the book that has been in your heart. This is a great time to entertain the idea.
